Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us by Daniel H. Pink
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Good book but too long and repetitive and with not that much insight.
Some insights:
- They found that there is a 3rd type of drive called intrinsic reward and it trumps all other external motivations. Intrinsic motivation needs the right type of environment to survive. For example: when money is used as an external reward for some activity the subjects lose intrinsic interest for the activity
- If you're going to reward your team with a dinner party don't do it the next time too or else they'll be expecting it and once they expect a reward their intrinsic reward system goes away
