Review: Quidditch Through the Ages

Quidditch Through the Ages Quidditch Through the Ages by Kennilworthy Whisp
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Everything you needed to know about Quidditch. Although I would have liked if Whisp added a chapter for the European Cup, about it's winners, the fans, the theatrics, the scores, etc.

This book contains:
- the evolution of the flying broomstick
- ancient broom games
- the arrival of the golden snitch
- anti-muggle precautions
- changes in quidditch since the 14th century
- quidditch teams of britain and ireland
- the spread of quidditch worldwide
- the development of the racing broom
- quidditch today

Review: Paris for One and Other Stories

Paris for One and Other Stories Paris for One and Other Stories by Jojo Moyes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loovvvvedddd Paris for One. It filled my need for Paris and romance <3 I feel like I could really relate to the main character and that I was her in the story. And ahhh the disappointments of ex-boyfriends =/ It's as if I experienced Paris! Before I read this book I wanted to go to Paris, now... I'm dying to go to Paris lol XD Gahhhhhh!

Jojo Moyes is a great writer. She writes like how I feel and how I see things and she doesn't miss things. The pace is good too. I need to read more of her work.

The other stories were good but really really short lol I was surprised. I enjoyed the jewelry robbery story the most I think haha

Review: The Fate of the Tearling

The Fate of the Tearling The Fate of the Tearling by Erika Johansen
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Man this series is serious one of a kind. There's really nothing else that compares to it. I am disapointed in this 3rd and final installment of the series just because the first and second were sooooooo good. I felt like there just could have been more.

Well.. if I haaaaave to compare it then I would compare it to the Netflix series Dark which I really enjoyed but that's only similar in the messy time cut scenes.

There's so much time f%&kery going on sometimes it's tough to follow but it makes it really interesting going back and forth and to and from different characters it's soooo intricate!

The last chapter - I seriously feel like Erika Johansen had finished writing the book, walked away and was wondering hmmmm what do I do with myself now that I've finished this book... I've gotten through such a momentous task of writing this series, I've been tucked away in the dark with my characters for years - what now? And she wanted to write that feeling into her book through Kelsea, that's why it ended that way lol

Review: The Heart of What Was Lost

The Heart of What Was Lost The Heart of What Was Lost by Tad Williams
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It's so good to be back into the world of Osten Ard!!! This book was so action packed and gave so much insight into the history and culture of the Norns and their relationship with the Rimmersmen.

This book was focused on the war between the Norns and the Rimmersmen. It was so action packed! I enjoyed how Tad Williams would have a chapter on the Norns POV and then next chapter have it be the Rimmersmen POV. The poor Norns =/ Endri was an interesting new character too. Interesting to hear more about Duke Isgrimnur too. I loved all the tricks the Norns would do on the Rimmersmen. You never knew what was going to happen next.

I was sad that there was nothing about Simon and Miriamele <3 I was excited to read about how they're taking on the kingdom! And what their lives are like now, but it's okay I guess lol

I didn't want it to enddddd lol This book was the length of an average book but to Tad Williams it was so short! lol I wanted moaaaaaaaaaar.

Review: Make Your Bed: Little Things That Can Change Your Life...And Maybe the World

Make Your Bed: Little Things That Can Change Your Life...And Maybe the World Make Your Bed: Little Things That Can Change Your Life...And Maybe the World by William H. McRaven
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

One of the shortest books I've ever read lol was literally less than 2hr audiobook.

I didn't get much value from it, but it was interesting to hear about a Navy Seals time training and how rough it was and he persevered through it. Never give up.

Honestly "Make your Bed" should not be the title of this book lol It should be something relating to a Navy Seal explicitly. Make your bed was like a paragraph within a paragraph of what this book was lol Basically start your day with a win, an accomplishment, be productive right off the bat and set the tone for the day - by making your bed lol That's about it.

Review: Stay Sexy & Don’t Get Murdered: The Definitive How-To Guide

Stay Sexy & Don’t Get Murdered: The Definitive How-To Guide Stay Sexy & Don’t Get Murdered: The Definitive How-To Guide by Karen Kilgariff
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This book was like listening to Ellen DeGeneres or watching a stand up comedian give good life advice.
It was like chit chatting with a best friend; deep, insightful, meaningful, and honest.
It was enjoyable and filled with little stories of their lives.
It wasn't like I was writing down a bunch of things to remember though.

Advice nuggets:
fuck politeness
go pro on therapy, don't go only when you are in dire need, everyone should go

Review: Shiver

Shiver Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

(1.5/5 stars) Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh! I mean the writing was pretty good, descriptive, poetic yatta yatta but omg what a boring ass story! I could barely get through it, I was constantly considering putting it in my DNF list but I hate doing that. It had a very Twilight feel with the whole werewolf theme but imagine having Twilight only be about Bella and Jacob, that mini story line within the bigger story line ONLY. No vampires, no drama, no team Edward etc etc, just Jacob lol I'm glad it's over.

Review: Girl, Stop Apologizing: A Shame-Free Plan for Embracing and Achieving Your Goals

Girl, Stop Apologizing: A Shame-Free Plan for Embracing and Achieving Your Goals Girl, Stop Apologizing: A Shame-Free Plan for Embracing and Achieving Your Goals by Rachel Hollis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was surprisingly a good book, I've gotten some value from it. I expected it to be like Jen Sincero's book You are a Badass but it was better, there was more practical advice.

I really enjoyed the chapter on other peoples opinions (OPO). At the end of the day OPO doesn’t matter it’s yours that matters and others may have developed their opinion for a multitude of reasons and perceptions you never had. Don’t ask others for their opinions just to validate your own, listening to OPO and allowing it to influence you makes you vulnerable about yours and it might not even matter based on one just one persons opinion, how can you generalize what everyone will think? Everyone has different beliefs and values which means you can’t please everyone.

Some practical advice:
- Wake up an hour early before you have to get your day rolling for some good ol' me time
- Get confident - first of all care about how you look, dress, make up, eye lashes etc
- Get off social media it’s a time killer
- Deep work

Review: Behind Closed Doors

Behind Closed Doors Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Good book, I was almost as frustrated at Jack's behaviour as I was in Harry Potter with Delores Umbridge lol Just hating on someone so much you can't stand it. I enjoyed how it ended too but I wanted a better (view spoiler)
